Keys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess what we found late last night? Yep, our keys to the Kia, the ones that mysteriously disappeared earlier this month! Dan found them in the pocket of his robe last night. His robe? Neither of us have any recollection of Dan wearing his robe when he moved the car that night, but he must have. The only thing we can think of is that it was cool out that night and Dan had changed into shorts so maybe he put on the robe for warmth instead of a coat???? I am so happy to have the remote back and even happier that we did not spend $170 buying a new one!
The summer has been very busy so far. Shane is on the go all of the time and loving it! Yesterday we went to the mall to return some things and we met up with Shane's friend Augie and his mom Anna. Later, we went to Home Run Inn pizza and had dinner with Kristine and Connor. After dinner we stopped in Kohls (to buy Shane his first 4th of July outfit) and The Children's Place, and Dan and I stopped for Ice Cream on our way home. FYI Baskin Robbins is doing 88 cent soft serve cones! Shane has big plans today as Liam is supposed to come over for a sleep over. Dan and I can't wait! We love the little guy.
I am putting up some cute pictures of Shane. In one, you can kind of see Shane playing with the Father's Day balloons he picked out for his Daddy. When I told Dan that Shane picked them out he did not believe me. However, he now sees the fascination that Shane has with them. He will just stare at them forever. He loves to hold the string and pull on the balloons! My favorite picture is Shane and Thunder! He is starting to notice Thunder and watch him, but so far Thunder has escaped the wrath of a Shane hair pull. I, on the other hand, have not been so lucky!

Laughter

I know I have not blogged in a while. I think it is because Dan is home. For some odd reason, I seem to have less free time now that I have another pair of hands here. How is that possible?
Anyway, I know I have a lot to catch up on, but before I post anything else I need to tell you that my little man laughed - I mean really laughed tonight. These were not the little giggles I wrote about before - this was full fledged LAUGHTER! He was laughing so hard, I actually had to make sure he was not crying! It was AWESOME! It happened while I was playing/tickling him. I have tried numerous times since to make him do it again and he hasn't. but I sure hope it will become his new thing! Did I ever mention how ADORABLE my guy is???? I never knew that I could love anyone like I love him! I am going to be in big trouble when this little guy learns how to talk because I can't ever imagine saying no to him! Can you just see the look on Dan's face when he returns home from work to find a pony in our yard?
Shane has been a busy little man since I last blogged. We were at a graduation party for Dan's cousin Eric who graduated from high school. I am posting a photo of Shane with Grandpa Bob taken there. Shane also has been spending some quality time with his daddy as I was doing some work for the National Board Certification program with the Teacher's Union downtown. Some of you may have received a photo of Shane crying in his Cubs outfit that Dan took when I was gone! You see, though we support both teams in our house, our true feelings emerge when the Cubs and Sox face each other in the Crosstown Classic. This year part of our bet was that we would dress Shane in an outfit from the team that won the day prior. The Sox won the first game and I dressed Shane in his Sox T-Shirt and snapped several adorable photos of him in it. The Cubs won the next game so I dressed Shane in his Cubbie blue and left him with his daddy for the day with instructions to take some cute pictures. Well, I came home and saw that though Dan did get some cute shots, he also thought it would be hysterical to take a picture of Shane crying in his Cub clothing. He sent out an email to some of his friends and family saying that Shane was upset about having to wear a Cub outfit! Typical Dan!! :-) We also had Father's Day at our house and speaking of clothes, Dan and Shane wore matching outfits. Dan found the outfit for Shane at Babies R Us before he was born and told me that he had one just like it. He wanted Shane and him to wear their matching outfits for Father's Day and they did! It was so cute!!!! We had Dan's parents, my parents, Jorie, Jason, John, Geri, Danny, Joey, Colleen, Bill, and Liam here. It was a great time! I really love our families! They are the best! The next day, we went to John and Geri's for dinner and Shane had a great time! I need to get Danny and Joey here to babysit - they are awesome with Shane! Yesterday, Dan and I went downtown to turn in our transcripts to the board of education to increase our pay now that our Master's is done! Dan will go up to a Master's plus 45 and I will be a Master's plus 30 when I go back. We left Shane with my parents rather than drag him all over the city with us. He had a great time with his grandparents! I only called them 6 or 7 times!!!! I can't help it, I missed my little bugger!!! OK, that is all for now - enjoy some pictures of the world's cutest baby!

All Dressed Up With No Place To Go!

On Thursday morning Shane woke up, got dressed (not by himself - he is brilliant, but not quite ready to dress himself) in his long sleeve onesie, flannel jeans, and White Sox jersey. He looked so adorable and was all ready for his first major league game (not that he has been at any other type of baseball game!) However, the weather did not cooperate. It was rainy and cold all day so we decided to skip the game. It was a good thing we did because 1) there was a 3 hour rain delay and 2) we would not have been able to get there anyway. Why you ask? Well, we lost the only set of car keys that we have for our Kia. How you ask? No clue! Dan moved the car on Wednesday night, got out of the car, locked it with the remote, and the keys were never seen again. They disappeared somewhere between the car (parked on the street in front of our house) and the house. Please don't ask me if I looked in Dan's pockets or the grass or anywhere else - we searched and searched and searched some more. That is the car with our car seat base and stroller so we need to be able to get in it and drive it! My parents were wonderful enough to come over so we could use their AAA to get into the car (we were hoping that the keys were in the car - they weren't) and then 5 minutes before they arrived we realized we had roadside assistance on our warranty. We called and that tow truck driver was here 10 minutes later. My amazing parents drove an hour to get to us at 7 pm for nothing! Well, they did get to see their favorite grandson, but still... Then, my outstanding mother in law came over bright and early (postponing her golf game) Friday morning so I could get to the Kia dealership and get keys made. We are postponing getting the remote entry for now (because it will run us $175) in hope that they will show up! We are so thankful for having such wonderful family! We love you all!
Today our friends Mike and Sally Schaefer came over with their ADORABLE boys, Michael and John! It was so great to see them! They brought Shane this beautiful wooden block with his birth date, name, weight, etc all carved in it! It is so neat! They also brought him a very cool magnet play set and wooden blocks. They are moving to Costa Rica where Mike will teach for a few years! It will be an huge change and a wonderful adventure! We can't wait to read all about their journey and experiences! I again meant to take pictures, especially of their boys with Shane, but I forgot!!!! UGGHHHH!
I am including some recent pics of Shane!

Giggles

Yes, Shane giggled this week for the first time!!!! He is also consistently sleeping through the night! I can't even believe that I just typed that because I was sure the day would never come! He takes his last bottle between 9 and 10 and sleeps until 6:45 or so!!!! If something startles him in the middle of the night, like the thunder (not the doggie) last night, he can even put himself back to sleep! I have stopped making the extra middle of the night bottle because we now expect him to sleep through the night! Dan is always saying that he will have "guy code" with Shane and I am starting to think that Shane and Dan worked out a deal so Shane would start sleeping through the night just before Dan is off for the summer. Coincidence? I don't think so!
Tomorrow is a big day for Shane. He is going to his first baseball game! Unfortunately, it is a Sox game rather than a Cubs game. I am quite nervous about the whole adventure. It is going to be a long day for Shane and I can't keep his car seat with me so he will need to stay on our laps. At least if he fusses, I will know he is a true Cubs fan like his mommy! He has a few cute White Sox outfits, but they are all short outfits and it is going to be too cold for shorts. Hmmmm. I'll figure something out! Check back on Friday for pictures of the big outing.
Shane went for his 3 month pictures last Thursday. They took 2 hours!!!! You see, our little man is now really interested in/distracted by cameras. He can be laughing and smiling away and as soon as the camera is lifted up, he stops smiling. He doesn't cry, he just looks at the camera and won't smile. I really only want smiling pictures now since he is always smiling and getting those were a challenge. We did eventually get some, but it is like the ones I take at home - it takes at least 20 shots to get one smiling one. He also spit up in the middle of his pictures and I didn't have a back up outfit (I had a onesie, but nothing I wanted him photographed in) so we just took off his shirt! It was beach day at Sears so we took some shots at the beach backdrop since he was already naked! I am putting two on the blog!
Last Friday Bill, Colleen, and Liam came over for dinner. I had intentions of taking lots of pictures, but I forgot. I did get one of Shane and Bill and am including that one. We had a great time and I hope we can get together again soon!
On Saturday Kristine and Connor came over! We went to downtown Plainfield for lunch! Connor is getting so big and so cute! Of course, I intended on taking pictures, but I again forgot! They brought over more of Connor's toys and clothes for Shane and we are so thankful! Shane loves the toys and we love the clothes! We can never thank them enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 weeks!

Well, it has actually been 12 weeks and 1 day since our little man came into our lives! I can hardly believe that it is already time to take him for his 3 month pictures! Time flies when you don't sleep! Therefore, I am hoping that time slows down a bit now that Shane is sleeping through the night more times than not. (I am knocking on wood as I type!) Yes, you read it right, we really do seem to have turned the corner! Last week was not a fluke. In fact, last night he actually slept from 10 pm until 6:40 am! He woke up super happy and so did his mommy!
Shane and I have been going for lots of walks and we are really looking forward to the summer when Dan will be home with us every day! Shane loves hanging out with his daddy! Dan is done with school on June 12th! We are really looking forward to having some relaxing time together!
The pictures I have attached are just some fun shots of the cutest baby on the planet! Check out his cool shades and his buddy Thunder!
